19. The Dominant Monad of the Earth

With the preparation given so far, it is time to approach a subject that is fraught with potential for misunderstanding and projection. The issue is power, the transmission of Shamballa and the appearance in the world of its ‘dominant monad.’

It has taken hundreds of years for Hierarchy, the structure of the world soul, to be slowly introduced both conceptually and experientially. This is partly due to the fact that the social and political hierarchies that have existed throughout human history have been ‘dominator hierarchies.’ In other words, they create structures that serve the accumulation of power, resources and opportunities at the apex of a pyramid. While at their best they may have provided protection for those inside them, these institutionalised state systems are often deeply exploitative and therefore those who value their freedom are rightly resistant to them.

The reality of a Hierarchy of love operating behind the scenes in human evolution is easily distorted and interpreted according to the experience of human hierarchies. The planetary Hierarchy is made up of those who have graduated beyond the survival imperatives of personality culture, and their power is not derived from outer authority but is rather anchored in love and service to the whole. The effects of this permeating culture of love take longer to work out than the short-term efficiency of human dominator hierarchies but, eventually, ‘everyone to love must come.’ The externalisation of this Hierarchy and the emergence of a global culture of love based on the reality of the world soul is immanent; but it will need to meet the full resistance of the planetary personality.

In the individual life, the appearance of an integrated personality is an advanced stage. In effect it means there is a sovereign ‘I’ able to speak for the whole. This ‘I’ has been achieved by the gradual domination of the elemental lives of the three vehicles of the personality by a ‘self’. This self IS the personality. Imagine the process of globalisation proceeding to the point where there was a mandated body, representing all nations, that could in effect ‘speak’ for humanity. This would be the Earth ‘personality’. The aim of the personality is survival and it uses its considerable intelligence (derived from the soul) to achieve this. Enlightened personalities understand that all parts of any system must be be included in this goal for lasting coherence, and so they eventually create systems that serve the needs of the whole - that is, the whole's survival needs. However, each ‘cell’ within the whole is also imbued with soul, and is therefore part of the world soul that has other, deeper needs to express. When the dominator hierarchy of the personality has achieved a certain amount of cohesion and integration, the soul begins to emerge both from within and without.

At first the personality asserts itself more strongly, drawing upon its own roots - which are the fear of death and the need to control. It should be remembered that the personality truly believes that this control is necessary. It will only surrender this control gradually, and to a demonstrably more powerful force. Emotional rebellion will not suffice; eventually, it only strengthens the personality's resolve.

Love must show itself as power; and to do this, it must be backed by the energy of Shamballa.

Let me restate this: love must show itself as power. The soul sees the personality for what it is, appreciates it, and penetrates it, opening the core of its fear to reveal the soul inside, as love.

This drama is going to play itself out on the world stage over the next decade.

The core issue will be freedom and so this is an attempt to transmit something of what this energy, pouring in along the path to Sirius and potent at this time of the August full moon, truly is.

The major difficulty is that it strikes at the root of the personality itself. Anyone who has yet to take the third degree (which is most of my audience) will inevitably interpret everything, including the idea of freedom, from the perspective of the individual. As was pointed out before, the difference between a Master of the wisdom and a human being is that a Master knows for certain he or she does not exist (at least in the terms of reference that a human has).

So when I speak of the survival needs of the personality, I am not only speaking of the survival of the individual body or form, but also the preservation of identity. Mostly, the way freedom is interpreted, is as the freedom for an individuality to act according to its own imperative. However, true Freedom removes the root of this independent action and so is taken by the personality to be the greatest threat to its existence that has appeared to date. This is why Hierarchy mediates between the power of Shamballa and the power of the personal 'I'.

The root of personality politics is this: a group of individuals representing (either by democratic election, use of military, economic or other forms of power) the rights of a much larger group of individuals. It will inevitably be homocentric, representing the rights of other species only as their survival directly affects the survival of humanity.

Mostly, to date, all attempts at political reform are still in the domain of personality politics - moving along a spectrum from overtly unjust dictatorships to modern democracies to decentralised power systems. They all have the rights and freedom of the individual (human) enshrined at their core.

The root of soul politics is this: a group of individuals who have awakened to their inherent nature as love, realised their unity with the whole and serve that whole through supporting all other individuals to awaken. They will be much less homocentric, as the love that they experience is recognised as inherent in other ‘sentient’ beings.

The root of monadic politics is this: the whole asserts itself at and as the core of all individual components that make up the body of its manifestation. This will not be homocentric at all, but geocentric - and comprise all life, animate and inanimate, subtle and gross.

So when speaking of Shamballa and the Shamballa impact, I am preparing you for the appearance in the world, in time and space, of its dominant monad - the sounding forth of the keynote of Earth itself. The personality interprets those two words together - 'dominant' and 'monad' - as an indication of a ‘one’ that has ‘power over’ - the antithesis of Freedom. Yet it is just this dominant monad that is the very source of the Freedom we are addressing. Educating about this emergent energy is one of the most important roles of Hierarchy. It will make the difference between those who experience it as a dilation of their core and those who respond to it with an instinctive contraction.

The soul of the world withdraws behind the veil when the personality enters its busy stage of integration and survival. It retreats to the inner subtle planes of existence. Shamballa also lies deeply veiled and hidden; and yet it lies at the very core of the personality itself. It is the source of the ‘I’ which obscures it. The individual spiritual identity, the spark of the divine that is so fiercely guarded at the core of each ‘I’, is derived from a single ‘I’. The revelation of this 'I' is experienced as death to the individual - but as Life to that which lives at all cores.

Many legends exist throughout the world of the dismembered god - a being torn apart and scattered throughout existence. The resurrection of Osiris is the reawakening of this one Life at the core of all lives. The sacrifice of this central life - the willingness to die to a coherent sense of self in order to bestow that self in all of the parts - is tremendous and truly humbling when realised. The trust in Life itself, over scales of time and space that are incomprehensible to us, is truly awe-inspiring. That trust and that sacrifice underlies the capacity for those parts to re-member themselves and restore the one self.

These mysteries are important to realise in the period immediately ahead of you. Freedom is the liberation from the prison of a separate identity. That Freedom is only possible through the direct realisation of where the gift of that identity originated. Attempts to stand up for the rights of the individual, or attempts to control the individual in the name of the rights of other individuals making up a collective, can only result in the strengthening of that individuality. This can be evolutionary in its own way, for it eventually burns out all taste for those particular battles. However, Hierarchy is seeking to reach and educate the disciples and initiates of the world to service in a more radical, and therefore more potent, way.

Simply, it is this: become an agent of Shamballa in the world. Become the energy of the dominant monad at work, like yeast in dough. Be a member of humanity that is willingly and willfully surrendered to the Life that lives at your core, knowing it is the same Life that lives at all cores. Just as you use the meditation given at the last full moon for stimulating the life at the centre of all your atoms, allow yourself to be an atom stimulated by the dominant monad of the Earth.

Dominant personalities rape or coerce. Even if there is consent given by other personalities to be dominated, that consent is only based on a power exchange or survival benefits. It is not a true surrender but a submission.

The dominant monad ravishes. It has already given itself and bestowed full Freedom for independent choice and action. When that Freedom is used in full consensual surrender, then its origin is remembered. The result is the revelation of divinity and true peace.

The ‘dominance’ of the monad is not a power or influence over others, but the revelation of the power that already exists at their core. When someone is transmitting this energy through them, it is recognised by awakened others as the voice of their own core.

The lack of peace at the core of every individual before the third degree derives from the secret knowing that its very existence is an unacknowledged theft. Prometheus has stolen fire, and the torment is a prison that cannot be escaped by any form of outer accumulation or distraction. But it is only a theft from the perspective of humanity. From the realms of fire, there is only the fire and the gift of fire. An intimate {initiate? -Ed.} discovers they are that fire. Hence the peace.

A Shamballa impact is the transmission of the Life principle of the monad directly to each component cell. If that cell or atom dilates, then the result is an infusion of that Life and peace. If the atom contracts, then the energy is deflected into the environment and the result is war. If the seperate ‘I’ will not die, and therefore live, it externalises the threat of death or wields it outside of itself.

Freedom, therefore, is a liberation from the prison of separative identity through the revelation of divinity that lies at the core. If that energy of freedom is recognised for what it is, then a mass awakening which we call ‘group initiation’ will take place.

There is an opportunity for the disciples and initiates of the world to be agents for this energy of Freedom, if they will tune themselves to it and learn how to work with it, in their own lives and in the life of humanity. As I have pointed out before, this involves some restraint of the impulse by the individual self to ‘make a difference’ which can reinforce the individuality. The movement is a willingness to be opened at the core - to be a hole that allows the one Life to pour into the world through you. The capacity to identify is shifted, then, from the personal self to the soul and eventually to that Life itself.

Up until the third degree, an initiate is an individual and therefore projects that individuality onto the teachings about initiation. Between the third and fifth degree, an initiate has decentralised and know themselves as the soul of the world expressing through an individuality that still exists but that they no longer identify themselves with. After the fifth degree, they know themselves as an expression of the one Life which permeates all.

If the monad of earth is dominant (in the sense of being causal or the originating source of the Life at the core of the self), then its operation will activate the monad of each atom in its sphere. The earth itself is an atom in the galaxy; and so there is a transmission that flows from the monad of the galaxy to the monad of the solar system, to the monad of earth, to the monad of each human being and to the monad of each atom. This life is one Life; and yet it is contained or held in different spheres of expression. A monad is a reservoir of this life, ever present in the core and yet activating rhythmically in the time and space experience of each sphere.

So while Life itself is one and universal, it is important to differentiate between different levels of expression of this Life. The monad of an individual human being is not the monad of the Earth although it derives its life from it. The monad of the Earth is not the monad of a galaxy. No individual or group of individuals can be the whole. However, they can identify with it, know themselves to be essentially one with it and transmit the energy of that Life in the sphere they inhabit. Thus there is a difference between the capacity to identify with a more encompassing Life and being it. Shamballa energy, correctly engaged, humbles the individuality rather than inflating it.
